As part of Terre des Hommes’ commitment to empower children and young people, and to enable adults to provide a safe and enabling environment to support their participation, we launched a guide titled “Working in Partnership with Children & Young People on the Move – Strategies for Meaningful Participation”.

Developed as a collaborative initiative by members of Terre des Hommes, its campaigning community, Destination Unknown and the International Institute for Child Rights and Development (IICRD), this unique guide is an important tool for people working with children and young people on the move who are keen to learn more about meaningful participation theory and practice, and to pick up new skills and tools to be a strong adult ally.

Available in English and French, it incorporates key lessons from Destination Unknown members, youth ambassadors and children, and shares theory, good practices, recommendations, and opportunities for growth. It includes a focus on children aged 8-18, with some adaptation for younger and older children and children with different abilities. Alongside the launch, we also provided capacity building to Destination Unknown members and partners on this guide, supporting them to implement the guide in practice.
